Let’s begin…
to question what you understand as true. It may feel like pulling the rug up from underneath yourself. The beliefs you have stood on have been yanked from you. It is sudden and it is swift. You loose your footing, and the ground becomes shaky. The reactions to this feeling can vary by person. A lot of people resist a disruption to their understanding of the world. It has kept them alive so far, so there is no need for change now. It is a safe bet. To question what we know is a dangerous and risky game and most people aren’t willing to make that bet. Some embrace the disruption, they ride the changing wave. They are sure footed in their understanding that the only constant is change.
Our lives and our well-being today depends on our ability to think critically about the problems we face as a collective to ensure our survival still. Democracies without a critically thinking citizen engaged in civic discussion turn into autocracies where protecting your civil liberties are not the function of government. In times of uncertainty, we tend to look to someone else for the answers and direction, but it can often be the case that those leaders or representatives don’t have your best interests or needs in mind. AudeTimes.com is built on the motto “Sapere Aude”, a phrase first coined by Enlightenment thinker Immanuel Kant who believed in the liberation of reason and encouraged people to “Dare to Know”. This publication dares visitors to think critically about the world around them, to go beyond conventional wisdom, and to give you factual information while posing questions that may challenge what you thought you knew.
